Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Solara (https://the-solara.com) collects when you use the site, how it is used, and what you can do about it. The short version: we collect only what is needed to run accounts and save your calculator scenarios, we do not sell your data, and we do not run advertising or third-party analytics.

What we collect

Account information. Your email address and a password. Passwords are hashed by our authentication provider, and we never see or store them in readable form.
Calculator data. If you are signed in, the scenarios you save, including the figures you enter (such as balances, contributions, withdrawals, ages, and rate assumptions) and the results, are stored in your account so they are available on your devices. This can be sensitive financial information, so please only enter what you are comfortable saving.
Technical data. Our hosting and authentication providers automatically log basic request information such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested, for security and operating the service.

If you use the calculator without an account, your scenarios stay in your own browser's storage and are not sent to us. The first time you sign in on that browser, any scenarios saved there are copied into your account.

How we use it

To create and secure your account, save and show your scenarios, send account emails (such as confirming your address or resetting a password), keep the service running, and prevent abuse. We do not use your calculator data for advertising or sell it.

Cookies and browser storage

We use your browser's local storage to keep you signed in and, if you are not signed in, to remember your scenarios on that device. These are essential to how the site works. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Signing out clears saved scenarios from that browser.

Who handles your data

We use a small number of service providers to run the site: Supabase for authentication and the database (hosted in the United States), Vercel for website hosting, and an email delivery service for account emails. They process data on our behalf under their own terms and privacy policies. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect against fraud or abuse.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit, and database access rules restrict each account's saved scenarios to that account. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Retention and deletion

We keep your account and saved scenarios until you ask us to delete them. To access, correct, export, or delete your data, or to close your account, email hill.ops70@gmail.com from the address on the account. Some technical logs are kept by our providers for a limited time.

Children

Solara is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

We may update this policy as the site changes. The date at the top shows the latest version, and continued use after a change means you accept it.
